Abstract: Biofeedback represents a multifaceted tool for the treatment of patients with chronic pain. In addition to several well-documented applications for directly addressing physical symptoms, biofeedback represents an effective way to address stress and other psychosocial variables associated with pain. Strategies for incorporating biofeedback into treatment and using biofeedback as a tool to develop a broader biopsychosocial approach to patients with chronic pain will be briefly discussed and illustrated with hypothetical patient examples.
