Abstract: I have to confess that I was not a very good teacher when I began my career, at least not in my mind. Oh, I wanted to be, very much so, in some respects to honor the many teachers who so profoundly influenced my life. But while I was good enough to pass muster for tenure purposes, as hard as I tried, I simply wasn’t as good as I wanted to be.
